The Mainau Elegance is only one of the four variations that Epple offers powered by the Sparc drive unit by SRAM.

The tested Mainau is a bicycle that provides a smooth ride with comfortable front and seat suspension. When the Sparc electric drive is activated, this bicycle becomes a pedelec that enables the rider to successfully climb hills with a gradient of 8% or less.
The gears of the two high torque motors in the rear hub tend to make strange noises.

Overall, it is a great concept to have a bicycle that becomes an easy pedelec simply with the push of a button. However, a stronger battery and more motor power is recommmended.
